Is the year half over or only half begun?

That Tracy Medberry is winding up a pretty good year. She directed and produced Reality Check for the FronteraFest 2009 Long Fringe. Then, shoot bang, she's off to Sordid Lives, produced at the Sam Bass Theater, with a very strong note of appreciation from the reviewer on the two characters that she played and the wonderful effectiveness that she had in each. Even before that was done, call a doctor, as she was knee deep in dead chickens with Epidemic of Fear, a musical commentary on the politics of fear. And then, only half past the year and a quarter til the fall, in Muses III, The memories of a house, by the Vestige Group, she continues to receive comments. What next?

Tune in here to find out!!!

And now for something....

Wellee wellee wellee. We are getting close to the normal state of chaos at home, so it is time to stir things up. The next play will be called....

Review-ish

At least one person in the world has seen this play....or maybe he just read the blurb...

Reality Check
One of the most original pieces taking place in this year’s Long Fringe is Tracy and John Medberry’s Reality Check, in which one audience member, yes audience member, will be taken through the court system, with the rest of the audience there to act as jury for their crimes. It takes audience involvement to a whole new level.

Reaility Check : More exposition on the plot

I thought I would throw out more details of the plot, for those avid followers that won't get to see it.

The story picks up at a point where Johnny Clayton and Miles Cartwright, who have been friends for some time have gotten this reality show together. Johnny has suffered from an accident, revealed to be caused by Miles. Johnny is just an animated severed head (portrayed by an actor).

Miles has also had a rough time, his wife was killed a couple of years earlier, and that sent him on a round of self abuse which is ultimately what caused him to be so incapacitated as to have caused Johnny's accident.

Johnny, Miles and the Bailiff beauties get the show going and select three contestants. Two of those are eliminated and Everett Mann is selected to be the prime suspect on Reality Check. A show that could win him ten million dollars.

To get that ten million dollars, Everett has to run through the rat maze of the court system, and face the tough and sexy Emma Melody. With the aid of his drunken and narcoleptic defense attorney, Everett attempts to win, but it just seems like all of the cards are stacked against him.

The trial turns serious and Everett realizes that the stakes are raised at every turn, and finally, some how he is on trial for his very life, and he isn't sure if he has a winning team.

Reality Check is a play that was mutually conceived by John and Tracy Medberry. The play has been produced as part of the Frontera Fest 2009 sequence in the Long Fringe.

Opening night

Opening night!
The nerves, the pain, the frustration and that was just getting the boy into daycare before the show.

We had a fair audience for the first night. It was early, but one section was completely full.

We had a fair number of glitches, but all in all, I think it was very enjoyable for those that didn't actually hate it. To celebrate, I've updated the category "Reality Check" on wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality_check

"Reality check, a play by John Medberry and Tracy Medberry, performed at Frontera Fest 2009, Austin Texas."

Tracy Medberry is beating herself up with the usual post show things for someone who directed, co-wrote, produced and costumed. Can't do it all shouldn't try and now we know that.

Next thing I am going to write is....request for a grant!!!
